SIRENS OF LESBOS ANNOUNCE SUPERSEMPFFT, WU-TANG CLAN & PAULO COELHO INSPIRED SINGLE

Last year five-piece Sirens of Lesbos released their epic debut LP "SOL" to critical acclaim. If you haven't woken up to the relatively new act - who grabbed the attention of and subsequently collaborated with Atlanta rap-star JID, Dreamville producer Christo, and "one to watch" UK vocalist Theodor Black - then it's time.

2021 sees the first step towards their second LP with spectacular new single, "I See Stars" - a cover of sorts, which takes its vocal hook from Supersempfft's 1980 track of the same name. The German synthesiser pioneers, whose fans stretched from Herbie Hancock to Kraftwerk, have already given the track their seal of approval. When you consider the act helped forge hip-hop history when they created the beats to Timezone's seminal "The Wild Style" using the Roboterwerke drum machine they designed, it's quite the accolade.

Sirens of Lesbos' Worldbeat ethos continues Supersempfft's tradition of blending diverse influences, synthesising these into a distinct musical world on "I See Stars". Calming and uplifting the listener with each play, the act Sirens Of Lesbos cement themselves as pioneers of audible Prozac and highlight their extensive and otherworldly talents for making music that you would marry.

With lyrics referencing Wu-Tang Clan's debut 1992 single "Protect Ya Neck" and RZA's book "The Tao of Wu", Sirens of Lesbos connect to the hip-hop lineage Supersempfft touched decades before. In addition, there are hints to Paulo Coelho's "Warrior of the Light", which continue the band's exploration of spiritual transformation.

In further sharing the visionary spirit of Supersempfft, whose original artwork featured the adventures of an intergalactic, tuba-playing frog, "I See Stars" is accompanied by a cosmic and trippy video. Directed by Lionel “Vinyl” Williams - the LA-based, neo-psychedelic artist and grandson of cinematic composer John Williams - the video is one of the first virtual vertical music videos ever made.

GIGWISE “Twinkling Synth Galore.”

FIP “Une relecture psychédélique d’une vieille pepite de Supersempfft.”
