GERD JANSON & SHY ONE REMIX ‘ZEUS’ BY SIRENS OF LESBOS

The wonderfully worldly collective Sirens Of Lesbos turned heads with the sublime disco of recent single ‘Zeus’. Now a clutch of new remixes arrive to fan its flames once more.

Gerd Janson dips the track into his cauldron of ‘80s Italo disco synth wizardry, liberally sprinkling subtle acid tones, chugging bass and dazzling lead arpeggios and taut electronic drum hits against each other while the nonchalant vocal brings the human touch. Excellent programming, atmospheric vox pads and spacious arrangement make this an authentic trip into the past that captivates at every turn. A real journey of a remix with some magical moments.

Shy One goes into deeper, broken beat territory punctuating the loose bass groove with stuttering drum hits and chattering snares that combine to create something that wouldn’t have felt amiss on DJ Mehdi’s ‘Lucky Boy’ album. Sirens Of Lesbos’ own Extended Disco Version does exactly what it says on the tin, stretching out the warm groove of the original into a generous 6.5 minute jam that lets the track breathe deeper.
